Welcome to Falls Village Fire Department — where a dedicated team of local firefighters and volunteers stands ready to keep our community safe, every single day.
For over 130 years, Falls Village Fire Department has been a cornerstone of the Canaan community. What started as a small group of volunteers responding to the occasional structure fire has grown into a well-trained, fully equipped department serving thousands of residents across the towns we love.
Our crew is made up of neighbors — teachers, shop owners, farmers, and retirees — who chose to give back by training, preparing, and standing ready whenever the call comes in. We don't just fight fires; we build relationships, host events, and work hard to make sure everyone goes to sleep safely in their own homes.
From emergency response to fire safety education, we offer a full range of services designed to protect Canaan and the surrounding communities.
Our firefighters respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and search-and-rescue calls around the clock.
We conduct commercial and residential fire safety inspections, review building plans, and help property owners identify and eliminate fire hazards before they become disasters.
Free fire safety workshops for schools, senior centers, and community groups. We teach fire drill procedures, smoke alarm maintenance, and home evacuation planning.
Our volunteers undergo rigorous training in structural firefighting, technical rescue, emergency medical response, and incident command to ensure the highest level of readiness.
We offer free smoke alarm installation for elderly and low-income residents in Canaan. A working smoke alarm can double your chances of surviving a home fire.
Want to make a difference? We're always looking for dedicated community members to join our volunteer firefighter program. Training provided — no experience required.
We believe that a fire-safe community is built on relationships, not just equipment. That's why we invest time in getting to know the people we serve — at school visits, open houses, town events, and door-to-door safety checks.
Whether you're a parent wanting to teach your child about fire safety, a senior needing a smoke alarm installed, or someone looking to serve their community as a volunteer — there's a place for you here.
Come tour the station, meet the crew, and let the kids sit in the fire truck — it's our favorite day of the year!
Volunteer firefighters receive full training, wear the uniform, and make a real difference every single day.
Whether you need us for an emergency or just want to learn more about fire safety, we're here for you. Reach out anytime — we're always happy to help.
Have a question, want to schedule a safety presentation, or interested in volunteering? Drop us a line and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
